We have chosen to donate 15% of our profits to Deep Roots Himalayan Foundation. In the Zanskar Valley, North Eastern India near Tibet, Deep Roots has built a small two room all girl’s school, it currently has only two teachers for sixteen students. With limited opportunity and familial support, these girls receive education on regular subjects as well as Tibetan Culture and Tibetan Language. When they turn eighteen, they will decide if they will become nuns. Basic necessities such as food, clothing, beds, desks, building completion and teacher’s wages are needed to ensure success.
Recovery
A Path to Liberation; Freedom From Suffering
After taking steps in our personal recovery from addiction, my partner and I have become Dharma students and Tibetan Buddhist practitioners. Meditation has been crucial in stabilizing our recovery, having malas as tools serve in meditation practice both on and off of the cushion. Mala use promotes focus, increases mindfulness, and sharpens awareness, to help interrupt disruptive thoughts and create new, healthy patterns. Through mindful bead-craft, we are fortunate to have found an avenue for both right livelihood and service work.
